Axure RP Pro training: outline and approach
Below is the list of the topics that would be covered in a standard course, from the foundations to the most advanced features, following a gradual approach. Each topic normally consists of a 20-30 minutes session, which could be lengthier as you'll have the opportunity to do practical exercises on the topics you just learned. This is recommended for the retention of material.
The course aim at covering all topics in a very detailed way and at the end you will also receive interactive and printable tutorials that you can use as a future reference.
Starting to use Axure
- Axure RP Pro overview, workspace and how to customize it
- Basic controls: wireframe widgets and all their properties
- Create a sitemap (flow diagrams) and reference it to the wireframes
- Import and manage images (pictures, animated graphics, background images)
- Assign rollover, mouse down and selected style to widgets and images
- Create basic interactivity: links, anchors, set widget to enabled/disabled
- Overview of all available interactions, with examples: links (incl. frames), dynamic panels, widgets and variables, and others
- Masters: create and reuse reoccurring patterns and backgrounds
- Annotate wireframes (inline and at a page level)
- Export interactive prototypes
- Generate functional specifications in Microsoft Word
- Useful keyboard shortcuts
Step forward
- Set up a global navigation and sub-navigation
- Modify the page contents dynamically and simulate AJAX-style interactions via dynamic panels

- Add conditions to interactions, with examples to show all the different types of conditions available

- Manage multiple interactions and master conditional logic: IF, ELFE IF conditions
- Advanced widget libraries and how to recreate a specific look & feel

Advanced
- Associate different behaviors to global elements and controls: raised events
- Nest and dock dynamic panels to create complex interactions such as expanding/collapsing regions, carousels and accordeons (New)

- Use variables to store and retrieve data (on the page / across multiple pages), or to simulate processes such as login / logout

How long does it take?
It can take 3 to 5 days to get an in-depth, thourough knowledge of Axure RP Pro starting from the very beginning and including practical exercise.If you have budget constraints, it's also possible to cover most of the topics in a crash 1-2 days course so you can get a solid foundation to start with and manage a project thoroughly from start to finish.
